Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Bismarck, ND is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests. This role operates under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance in a regulated plasma collection setting.

The position requires RN/NP/PA licensure, CPR/AED, IV therapy competence, and at least two years in a clinical or hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RN, NP or PA.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical/technical issues or donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and seek guidance from occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations.
