Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Sioux City, IA is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, manage donor adverse events, and coordinate with center physicians to ensure donor safety and regulatory compliance.

This role requires state licensure in nursing or EMT, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and nursing program graduate.
• Current licensure/certification in the state (RN/LPN/LVN, EMT, Paramedic).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA training completion for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs and arrange for medical transport in emergencies.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues and donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
