Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Des Moines is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse). You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, and collaborate with the Center Physician to ensure compliant plasma collection operations.

The role requires nursing licensure (LPN/LVN), CPR/AED certification, and clinical experience. You will support vaccination programs and incident reporting within a fast-paced center environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with state-approved nursing program requirements.
• Licensed or certified as LPN or LVN in the responsible state.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state IV therapy requirements where applicable.
• Complete FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility with informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance on donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support related investigations.
