Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting operations in a plasma donation center. Reports to the Plasma Center Manager.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions, following SOPs for medical emergencies and assisting with Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine additional evaluation by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator, when authorized by EHS, to support investigations of pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state of assignment as an LPN or LVN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA‑approved training requirements for a BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 – $33.44. The actual salary may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements.
