Job summary
BioLife Plasma Services in the United States is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager and contributes to a high-quality plasma center operation with comprehensive benefits and a sign-on bonus. The position requires nursing licensure and relevant clinical experience.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, including completion of an approved nursing program per state requirements.
Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility: LPN or LVN.
CPR and AED certification required.
Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
Responsibilities
Determine donor eligibility; include informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs.
Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical issues.
Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/ER per EHS guidance.
May serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
