Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review lab results and notify donors of unsuitable tests.

Reports to the Center Manager and works under the Center Physician for medical issues. The role requires EMT-Paramedic licensure, CPR/AED, and two years in a clinical/hospital setting, with state IV therapy requirements fulfilled.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing program graduate.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
• CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, and medical history interview.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs; coordinate with Center Physician and Medical Affairs.
• Review laboratory test results and communicate donor suitability or unsuitability.
• Provide center-level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS) guidelines.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
