Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Milwaukee on a part-time schedule to ensure donor eligibility, monitor donor safety, and support plasma center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician.

The role requires an active LPN/LVN license, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical setting, plus FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Qualifications

• Licensed LPN or LVN currently active in the state of responsibility.
• High school diploma or equivalent with nursing program completion.
• CPR and AED certification mandatory.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training completed.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies including physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation; follow EHS guidance.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations in the local community.

Education

LPN or LVN license

High school diploma or equivalent nursing program

CPR and AED certification

Basic IV therapy certification (state requirements)

FDA BioLife Medical Support Specialist training

Two years clinical or hospital setting experience
