Job description

This is a plant job, not a service route. You run the central utility systems that keep production going: boilers, chillers, cooling towers, water treatment, compressed air, and the building automation that ties it all together. You own the equipment instead of visiting it, which means you get to actually know your systems, tune them, and see the results of your work over time.

Responsibilities:
  • Boilers: steam and hot water, including startup, shutdown, blowdown, and daily rounds
  • Chillers and cooling towers: chilled water and condenser water loops, pumps, valves
  • Water treatment: chemical feed, testing, blowdown control, and coordination with the treatment vendor
  • Compressed air and other plant utilities
  • Building automation systems and HMIs: monitoring, trending, alarm response, and setpoint adjustments
  • Supporting mechanical and electrical equipment across the facility
  • Run daily rounds and log readings, then act on what the numbers are telling you before it becomes a problem
  • Respond to alarms and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues on plant equipment
  • Start up, shut down, and switch over equipment safely and in sequence
  • Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on pumps, valves, motors, traps, and heat exchangers
  • Keep water chemistry in spec and document it
  • Use the BAS to trend performance, spot drift, and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Coordinate with maintenance, production, and outside contractors during projects and outages
  • Keep accurate logs and follow all safety, lockout, and permit procedures
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of hands on experience operating or maintaining central plant utility equipment
  • Working knowledge of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and water treatment
  • Comfort reading gauges, trends, P&IDs, and equipment manuals, and making a call based on what you see
  • Familiarity with building automation systems and HMIs
  • Solid mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • High school diploma or GED, plus technical training, military experience, or an apprenticeship
Nice to have
  • Boiler operator license, stationary engineer license, or similar certification
  • EPA 608 certification
  • Water treatment certification or vendor training
Why Work With Us?
  • Brand new facility located in the Fishers Life Sciences and Innovation Park
  • Cafeteria onsite serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks - employees get a daily meal stipend
  • 100% employer paid Dental and Vision benefits
  • Modern space with brand new technology, climate-controlled production floor
  • Opportunity for growth, development, and advancement
  • 3 weeks of PTO, 10 paid holidays, 8 sick days
