Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Sr. Utilities Engineer to provide hands-on support for critical plant utility systems in our Georgia facility.

You will troubleshoot, monitor performance, and drive reliability across cooling towers, chillers, boilers, HVAC, water systems, and gases. You will partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Validation to resolve issues, lead studies, and manage capital projects from concept to implementation, while supporting preventive maintenance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3+ years relevant engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of cGMP/ASME/OSHA/EPA/ISPE helpful.
  • Experience with capital projects and utility management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on engineering support for plant utility systems and troubleshoot.
  • Monitor performance and improve reliability, capacity, efficiency, maintainability, and manufacturing continuity.
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve issues.
  • Lead studies, specifications, assessments, design packages, and capital projects from concept to implementation.
  • Support preventive/predictive maintenance, asset reliability, root-cause investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce energy, water, waste, downtime, and operating costs; support sustainability goals.
  • Support commissioning/qualification/validation, change controls, SOPs, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate contractors/vendors; act as SME; support after-hours/weekend needs for 24/7 operations.

Sr. Utilities Engineer — Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on engineering support and troubleshooting for critical plant utility systems: cooling towers, chillers, boilers, HVAC, water systems, compressed air, process gases, and distribution.
  • Monitor performance, analyze operational data, and improve reliability, capacity, efficiency, maintainability, and manufacturing continuity.
  • Partner cross-functionally (Manufacturing, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Automation, Validation, Reliability, EH&S) to resolve issues.
  • Lead/support engineering studies, specifications, assessments, design packages, and capital projects (concept to implementation).
  • Support preventive/predictive maintenance, asset reliability, root-cause investigations, deviations, CAPAs, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce energy/water, waste, downtime, and operating costs; support sustainability goals.
  • Support commissioning/qualification/validation, change controls, SOPs, P&IDs, and technical documentation.

Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/related preferred) and 3+ years relevant engineering experience.
Qualifications (Preferred)
  • Plant/facility “dark/gray utilities” experience (chillers, cooling towers, boilers, HVAC, hydraulic systems).
  • Experience in operational manufacturing environment (pharma plus; other manufacturing considered).
  • Experience with capital projects/modifications/assessments; CMMS/BMS/process control/utility management; familiarity with Cleaver-Brooks, Trane, JCI.
  • Knowledge of cGMP/ASME/OSHA/EPA/ISPE; Lean/Six Sigma/Reliability; strong Microsoft Office and project tools.
