Rossen Landscape, a premier landscape company in the greater Washington DC metro area, is seeking a Plant Health Care Specialist. You will manage turf and ornamental health using pesticides and fertilizers, calibrate machinery, and log applications in compliance with state regs.

Summary

Plant and Turf Health Technician

Position Type: Full-Time, Salary Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $60,000-$80,000

Location: Sterling, VA

Job Summary :

We are hiring a Plant Health Care Specialist with an in-depth understanding of landscape pesticide and fertilizer products, methods, and procedures. The ideal candidate should be able to calculate and calibrate machinery and materials and properly log all applications according to state regulations. They should also have knowledge of pesticide/fertilizer mixing rates and the ability to use an assortment of application equipment for liquid and granular materials.

Other requirements include a pesticide applicator certification, 3 years of landscaping and customer service experience, and a clean driving record. The candidate should also have knowledge of landscaping and lawn maintenance practices, turf nutrient programs, and pest care programs. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Fluency in using technology, including Aspire Software, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams, is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Turf Fertilization- Continuously monitor plant heath quality and fertilizing methods after application and communicate progress to clients and management.

Turf Weed Control - Our clients' expectations are a green weed-free lawn and you will be the front runner in helping achieve those results.

Seeding - Ensure the proper seeding and aeration techniques when laying seed or sod.

Pesticide Storage and Compliance - Calculate and calibrate machinery, materials, and proper log of all applications according to state regulations.

Budget Management - Ability and knowledge of planning and regulating products and materials.

Integrated Pest Management Services - Inspects, diagnoses, and identifies treatments of trees, plants, turf, and shrubs for insects, disease and other plant health issues.

Safety and Compliance - Knowledge of the chemical substances and of the chemical processes and transformations. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.

Client Relationship - Communicate with the clients regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control, weeding, seeding, and fertilization services.

Equipment Operation- Maintain and operate equipment used to apply Plant Health Care treatment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of basic landscaping and lawn maintenance practices

Leveraging technology (Aspire Software, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Microsoft Teams)

Knowledge of and ability to create turf nutrient programs, annual ornamental plant pest care programs.

An in-depth understanding of landscape pesticide and fertilizer products, methods, and procedures. Calculate and calibrate machinery, materials, and proper log of all applications according to state regulations.

Knowledge of pesticide/fertilizer mixing rates and ability to use an assortment of application equipment (Liquid and granular materials).

Ability to diagnose turf and ornamental plant pest issues, create solutions from diagnosis.

In-depth knowledge of turf and ornamental pesticides, fertilizers, and seeding applications.

Identification of pests and weeds

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:

Pesticide Applicator Certification (Valid or Eligible to obtain one).

State or national landscape industry certification(s) preferred.

Landscaping (3 years)

Customer Service (3 years)

Driver’s License (Clean Record)
