Job summary

York Building Products in Maryland is seeking a Plant Support Specialist to keep our quarry moving. You’ll work around crushers, conveyors, screens, stackers and other heavy equipment to keep the plant running safely and efficiently.

If you’re mechanically minded, good at spotting problems, and prefer fixing issues to walking past them, this hands-on role will challenge you daily in a live production environment.

Qualifications

• Experience around heavy equipment or machinery.
• Good mechanical mind and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to spot when something isn’t right.
• Safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Start the day with the crew at the pre-shift meeting.
• Inspect equipment before and after operation — safety components, fluids, tires, and more.
• Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot crushers, conveyors, screens, stackers, and other plant equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs to keep equipment running.
• Keep the plant clean, organized, and safe.
• Keep spare parts organized and ready to go — belts, motors, screens, hardware, and more.
• Document completed work and identify repairs that need attention.
• Communicate with the crew to keep production moving safely and efficiently.
• Pitch in with other quarry operations when needed — cleanup, road repair, equipment work, blasting support, excavation, and more.
• Attend maintenance planning meetings and help keep upcoming work on track.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and MSHA regulations.
