Job summary

York Building Products in Perryville, MD is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for our quarry team. You’ll operate front-end loaders, dozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment to move rock and gravel while keeping production safe, efficient, and on schedule.

This outdoor, hands-on role requires pre- and post-trip inspections, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work with a crew to maintain material flow.

Qualifications

• Proven heavy equipment operating experience required.
• Mining, quarry, or aggregate experience is a major plus.
• Ability to safely operate multiple types of heavy equipment.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and depth perception.
• Solid understanding of heavy equipment operation, safety, and maintenance.
• Good problem-solving skills; think on your feet.
• Comfortable using electronic equipment and software on modern machinery.

Responsibilities

• Run loaders, dozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment.
• Move rock, gravel, and quarry materials to designated areas.
• Build and relocate stockpiles to keep material flow.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; report issues.
• Document equipment issues during shift and communicate with crew.
• Ensure safety, PPE compliance, and MSHA regulations.
