Job summary

Harbor Steel & Supply Corporation in Bowling Green, KY is seeking a Plant Superintendent to lead the day-to-day operations of our growing facility. You will supervise and develop staff, coordinate production, and ensure safe, efficient material handling while improving processes.

A hands-on, problem-solving leader with lean or manufacturing background will thrive in this role. Responsibilities include overseeing warehousing, processing, receiving, and shipping; maintaining inventory accuracy;

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, or a related environment.
• Experience supervising or coordinating people and daily operations.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Manufacturing or Lean/continuous improvement experience is helpful.
• Steel or metal industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily warehouse, processing, receiving, and shipping operations.
• Supervise and develop operational employees, providing direction and accountability.
• Ensure material is processed accurately, efficiently, and safely.
• Coordinate production schedules, staffing, and daily priorities.
• Oversee receiving, customer pickups, shipments, and loading activities.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and effective material flow.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational issues are addressed.
• Monitor operational KPIs and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Work with the General Manager and office team to address customer and operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable DOT requirements.

We are looking for a Plant Superintendent to help lead the day-to-day operations of our growing Bowling Green facility. This role is a good opportunity for someone with operations or manufacturing experience who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and improving how a facility operates.

Experience in manufacturing or Lean principles is helpful. Experience in the steel industry is a plus.

The Plant Superintendent will:

Work Environment & Requirements:

• Ability to work around steel, material-handling equipment, and processing operations.
• Ability to obtain required forklift and overhead crane certifications.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
• Ability to use or learn common measurement tools such as a tape measure, calipers, micrometer, and angle finder.
• Ability to work the schedule necessary to support the operation.
• Required PPE includes steel-toe safety shoes, gloves, hard hat, and safety glasses.
