Job summary

A leading supplier of fresh/frozen meat blends is seeking a motivated Plant Safety Manager to oversee compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements. You will develop and coordinate safety programs, conduct inspections, and train staff to ensure a safe working environment. Ideal candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in safety training and manufacturing settings.

Job Title - Plant Safety Manager

Job Location - Logansport, IN

Client Summary -

We are a leading supplier of fresh/frozen meat blends to both the wet and dry pet food industries.

Position Overview -

We are seeking a motivated individual to work with and through management to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities -

Safety

  • Develop, coordinate, and enforce safety programs to achieve and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
  • Identify, develop, and implement safety initiatives in support of business needs.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs.
  • Coordinate efforts in the development, implementation, and facilitation of Safety Committees. Develop plans to improve the “Safety Mentality” among teams so every employee understands their role in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Analyze and report safety performance metrics to Management weekly.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments in conjunction with applicable EHS programs and regulations.
  • Conduct post-accident investigations and prepare reports to identify causes and hazards.
  • Represent the company on safety and environmental matters with OSHA and other agencies. Maintain relationships with outside organizations such as fire departments and rescue teams.
  • Review accidents and incidents, conduct audits, and manage corrective actions. Develop plans to reduce incidents and improve the work environment, updating management on major issues and solutions.

Training Coordination

  • Assist management in creating, designing, and developing on-the-job training programs, including visuals, SOPs, guides, and references.
  • Schedule and coordinate all training sessions with managers and supervisors.
  • Maintain management training tracking, enter data, track completion, and handle communication and certification processing.
  • Ensure timely completion of training within set parameters.
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational information.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to stay current in the field.
  • Adhere to attendance guidelines at the work location.

Ideal Candidate -

Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of experience or equivalent education/experience are required. Must also possess:

  • Safety training program development skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with coworkers
  • Hazardous Waste and OSHA training experience
  • Experience in an industrial/manufacturing or meat processing environment (preferred)
