Job summary

3M in Ames, IA is seeking a Plant Engineering Supervisor to lead maintenance teams and drive reliability across machines, systems and facilities. You will supervise technicians and promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

You’ll apply root cause analysis, preventive maintenance and CMMS practices while developing future-ready capabilities and supporting site initiatives, including 24/7 operations and cross-functional collaboration with global colleagues.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) and Seven (7) years of manufacturing maintenance experience in a private, public, government or military environment
• OR Associate's degree (completed and verified prior to start) and Five (5) years of manufacturing maintenance experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Additional qualifications that could help you succeed include supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and direction to maintenance technicians to maximize reliability and efficiency.
• Lead, coaching, and develop employees through floor presence, feedback, recognition, and development.
• Supervise and guide Plant Engineering personnel to improve equipment reliability and maximize OEE.
• Shift maintenance practices from reactive to proactive and predictive strategies using root cause analysis and best practices.
• Develop future-ready team capabilities in CMMS, reliability, data-driven decisions, and regulatory compliance.
