Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Manager to ensure the reliability and performance of plant equipment and systems at our Sioux Falls facility.

You will oversee preventative maintenance, scheduling, parts management, and training programs to improve uptime and efficiency. You will lead maintenance projects, manage the department budget, and monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field and 5+ years relevant experience; or equivalent combination.
• 2+ years in team management/development or project leadership.
• Plant maintenance or reliability experience with maintenance programs, schedules and budgets.
• Strong analytical skills and KPI analysis experience.
• Excellent leadership and supervisory abilities with team management experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability and performance of all plant equipment and systems.
• Oversee preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
• Manage scheduling of maintenance employees and schedulers.
• Supervise parts storeroom inventory and ensure timely availability of parts.
• Develop and implement maintenance training programs for staff.
• Manage maintenance department budget and resource allocation.
• Lead large maintenance and repair projects within time and budget.
• Monitor KPIs (downtime, parts usage, MTBF) to drive continuous improvement.
