Job summary

Verto People Ltd. is seeking a Plant Engineer - Project in Rochester, MA to lead engineering initiatives at a waste-to-energy and power generation facility.

The role focuses on managing capital projects, improving plant reliability and optimizing complex industrial processes. The position works with operations, maintenance and engineering teams, coordinating design, budgeting, construction, commissioning and implementation while occasionally supporting off-hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years in power generation, waste-to-energy, utility operations or similar.
• Hands-on process engineering and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience delivering engineering projects, plant modifications or process optimization.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering and capital improvement projects from design through commissioning.
• Monitor plant performance, production metrics, and operating parameters to identify efficiency opportunities.
• Optimize combustion processes, boiler performance and control systems while supporting environmental compliance.
• Investigate technical issues and implement engineering solutions and corrective actions.
• Review boiler assessments, engineering reports and recommendations to support improvements.
• Coordinate internal teams and external contractors to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to plant leadership.
