Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Plant Project Engineer in Lafayette, IN, within the Large Power Systems Division. You will provide technical leadership to ensure economical design, construction, installation and maintenance of assigned service systems and facilities on large-scope projects.

The role emphasizes project leadership, collaboration with engineers, and delivering safe, efficient, and compliant solutions for industrial facilities in a global manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• ABET accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology degree and 3 years of experience as a Facility Engineer/Plant Engineering Supervisor
• Cad proficiency for design and drafting
• Experience with plant facilities management and safety procedures

Responsibilities

• Manage construction projects for Machine Tool Installations
• Review reinforced concrete design and standards
• Maintain standards, write progress reports, and propose design changes
• Lead facilities engineers and coordinate contract engineering firms
• Provide design information, review proposals, and act as primary contact
• Estimate costs for equipment, materials and installation
• Approve drawings, specify equipment, and write purchase requisitions
• Supervise outside contractors
• Troubleshoot and diagnose system failures; improve efficiency
• Design lifting devices and provide technical support for handling systems
• Create technical specifications for facilities projects
