Sonoco Products Company is seeking a Plant Process Engineer III to champion environmental compliance and sustainability while supporting safe, reliable manufacturing operations at our Milwaukee, WI facility.

The role provides engineering support for equipment, facilities, utilities, and safety programs, coordinating with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Safety teams to drive equipment reliability and process efficiency.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering required or A.S with equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in a leadership role within manufacturing.
• Strong background in mechanical systems, electronics/automation, and chemical processes.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, CAD, and project management software.
• Extensive OSHA safety knowledge with mechanical safety practices and LOTO.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
• Support capital improvement projects from planning to completion.
• Administer plant safety programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide engineering oversight for plant utilities and facilities.
• Coordinate preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Manage maintenance for facilities and critical systems.
• Oversee contractor work and ensure safety, schedule, and budget.
• Lead root cause investigations to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Develop maintenance standards and engineering documentation.
• Monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
