Job summary

OPAL Fuels is hiring a Plant Operator to manage a landfill-gas-to-energy facility, including a gas turbine and Waukesha engines. You will focus on safe, reliable day-to-day operations and maintenance to maximize production and minimize downtime.

The role reports to the Area Manager and emphasizes regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and precise recordkeeping in a high-safety environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum three years of heavy equipment operations experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; basic electrical knowledge.
• General troubleshooting abilities.
• Proficiency with recordkeeping and logging.
• Ability to read and write effectively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience with pumps, blowers, or air compressors.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain gas turbine, Waukesha engines, gas compressors, and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform daily inspections of flow meters, gas chromatographs, pressures, temperatures, vibration indicators, alarms, and abnormal noises.
• Start, stop, and adjust plant equipment according to operational requirements and procedures.
• Monitor engine and turbine performance for optimal output and reliability.
• Maintain accurate records of production data, run hours, maintenance activities, and equipment outages.
• Participate in preventive maintenance outages and major overhauls.
