Job summary

The Dow Hayward Site in Hayward, CA is seeking an Operator to transfer product, run water treatment facilities, and operate equipment such as pumps, valves, and instrumentation. You will troubleshoot and repair as needed, work in a team, and remain accountable for your own productivity while prioritizing safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (minimum).
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 4-on/4-off schedule, days and nights.
• Willingness to work overtime and holidays as needed.
• Current, valid US driver’s license required to operate yard trucks.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Follows facility procedures and policies to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
• Performs field tasks in support of normal plant operation (e.g., filter changes, product sampling, material transfers).
• May perform bulk raw material offloads of hazardous/non-hazardous materials.
• May perform finished product loading activities.
• Performs field checks on process equipment and basic troubleshooting/repairs.
• Oversees safe operation of batch process and monitors critical conditions and control systems.
• Participates in Immediate Response activities (Immediate Response Leader, Hazmat technician).
• Performs equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements, and preventive maintenance.
• Performs daily rounds to ensure safe and reliable operation of critical equipment.
• Performs equipment decontamination and isolation for maintenance work.
• Writes and issues Safe Work Permits.
• Completes safety/compliance tasks per OSHA, EPA, and other requirements.
• Uses process knowledge to improve operating procedures.
• Participates in root cause investigations and implements corrective actions.
• Coaches and trains others on plant operations.
• Performs housekeeping and other field improvements.
• Other responsibilities may be assigned.
