Job summary

CHEP is seeking an Operations Supervisor (1st Shift) in Wilmington, MA to support the Plant Manager in running total plant operations, driving safety, quality, service and cost performance. Lead a team of production staff and coordinate with maintenance and HR to maintain a safe, efficient, compliant operation.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong people management, and a track record in plant supervision, with focus on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Operations/Supply Chain or related field.
• 90% of workforce is Spanish speaking; Spanish and English skills valued.
• Prior experience in a plant supervisory role in engineering or manufacturing.
• Familiarity with private fleet management/transportation is helpful.
• Strong customer focus orientation.
• Strong people management capability including non-exempt production workforce.
• Demonstrated success in employee relations.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally.
• Experience managing safety performance and programs.
• Understanding of supply chain practices and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership by mentoring, coaching, and guiding employees; address employee relations issues.
• Lead and enhance safety performance on shift; promote proactive safety culture; ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Manage shift maintenance activities; coordinate with maintenance team to avoid interruptions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives; implement best practices to improve efficiency, quality and cost.
• Monitor and manage plant costs and yield; optimize performance with Plant Manager.
• Address performance and attendance matters with HR; ensure staff meet operational expectations.
• Ensure compliance with CHEP procedures and work instructions.
