Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. Forbes, MN, is seeking a Shift Manager Operations at the United Taconite LLC Forbes processing plant to direct and coordinate safe production, supervising operators and technicians on a shift-by-shift basis.

You will lead a unionized crew, enforce safety rules and standard work, drive continuous improvement, coordinate with mine and plant dispatch, and ensure compliance with company policies while maintaining high performance.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree in a technical field or equivalent.
• 3-5 years’ experience in mining/mineral processing facility or heavy industry.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills such as team building and conflict resolution are required. Willingness to promote team concepts and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, facilitate, and motivate employees to safely and efficiently execute and complete their work assignments.
• Strive to keep all employees safe and achieve this by training in safe work practices.
• Complete planned inspections, safety contacts, and task observations as part of the safe production focus.
• Establish high-performance standards for the employees, promote and encourage the achievement of these standards, provide feedback to employees on their progress, and implement disciplinary measures if necessary.
• Update scheduling personnel on daily and weekly carry-over work.
• Supervise hourly employees’ work and develop an understanding of the work being done to increase skill level and maximize operating efficiency.
