Job summary

PPG is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee operations at Barberton, OH and Darien, WI facilities, driving production efficiency, safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives, manage a large unionized workforce, and mentor staff to meet performance goals; on-site in Barberton, OH and reporting to the Director of Industrial Coatings Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience managing plant operations and large teams.
• Experience in managing a unionized workforce and industrial relations.
• Experience in specialty materials manufacturing including microporous substrates, polymer films, membranes, or other engineered sheet products is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and logistics and ensure adherence to customer specifications
• Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA PSM and environmental regulations
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all teams
• Oversee quality control systems to meet ISO 9000 requirements
• Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement programs
• Improve and ensure production schedules meet customer delivery requirements
• Monitor indicators for throughput, scrap rates, and downtime; implement cost-saving measures
• Lead, coach, and guide development of plant staff to achieve performance goals
• Foster a collaborative and performance culture
• Ensure customer satisfaction through on-time delivery and quality performance
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs
• Identify opportunities for productivity and OEE improvements
