Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. seeks a Plant Manager to oversee operations at the Barberton, OH and Darien, WI facilities. The role is on-site in Barberton, OH and reports to the Director of Industrial Coatings Operations.

You will drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals while leading continuous improvement initiatives. You will manage daily plant operations, coach staff, implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs, and ensure ISO 9000 compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience managing plant operations and large teams.
• Demonstrated track record in managing a unionized workforce and handling collective bargaining, grievances, and industrial relations.
• Experience in specialty materials manufacturing including microporous substrates, polymer films, membranes, or other engineered sheet products is highly desirable.
• Experience in phosgene-derived specialty chemical products is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and logistics and ensure adherence to customer specifications.
• Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA PSM and environmental regulations.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all teams.
• Oversee quality control systems to meet ISO 9000 requirements.
• Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement programs.
• Improve and ensure production schedules meet customer delivery requirements.
• Monitor indicators for throughput, scrap rates, and downtime; implement cost-saving measures.
• Lead, coach, and guide development of plant staff to achieve performance goals.
• Foster a collaborative and performance culture.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through on-time delivery and quality performance.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs.
• Identify opportunities for productivity and OEE improvements.
