Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. seeks a Plant Manager to oversee operations at Barberton, OH and Darien, WI. You will manage production, maintenance, quality, and logistics, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery while driving continuous improvement and cost reduction.

You will report to the Director of Industrial Coatings Operations and be on-site in Barberton, OH. The role requires leadership of large teams and experience with unionized labor in a specialty materials environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience managing plant operations and large teams.
• Experience managing a unionized workforce and handling collective bargaining, grievances, and industrial relations.
• Experience in specialty materials manufacturing including microporous substrates, polymer films, membranes, or other engineered sheet products is highly desirable.
• Experience in phosgene-derived specialty chemical products is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and logistics and ensure adherence to customer specifications.
• Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA PSM and environmental regulations.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all teams.
• Oversee quality control systems to meet ISO 9000 requirements.
• Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement programs.
• Improve and ensure production schedules meet customer delivery requirements.
• Monitor indicators for throughput, scrap rates, and downtime; implement cost-saving measures.
• Lead, coach, and guide development of plant staff to achieve performance goals.
• Foster a collaborative and performance culture.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through on-time delivery and quality performance.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs.
• Identify opportunities for productivity and OEE improvements
