Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a skilled electrician to maintain and repair equipment and utilities across the division of plant operation. The role ensures safe operation of fire and safety systems and requires strong troubleshooting and leadership as well as the ability to work with building management systems and direct digital controls for HVAC.

Responsibilities include daily rounds, performing repairs, and providing emergency responses to maintain continuous service to patient areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three years of electrical maintenance experience with two years of electrical courses and one year basic electronics coursework is required.
• Four years of experience in maintenance of plant operations (electric, steam, water, HVAC, medical gases) is required.
• Refrigeration license is preferred.
• NYC G17 Bulk Medical Gas Certificate is required.
• Must maintain Certificate of Fitness as required by FDNY/AHJ.
• Experience with building management system computers with direct digital controls (DDC) for HVAC is required.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical blueprints and troubleshoot problems.

Responsibilities

• Monitors building management systems for power, heat, water, air conditioning and fire systems; makes adjustments as needed.
• Performs daily rounds to ensure proper operation and makes repairs or recommendations for major repairs; can cut in emergency generator during power failures.
• Fulfills electrician duties including patient lighting calls, power outages, and maintaining services (electrical, HVAC, steam, etc.).
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment to avoid failures; operates all utility systems and conducts emergency repairs as needed.
• Performs related duties as required.
