Job summary

Koch Foods, Inc. is seeking an Occupational Health Nurse to provide medical care and support health services on site in a 2nd shift. You will coordinate pre-employment testing, workers' compensation, and wellness programs while maintaining strong ties with the local occupational health clinic.

The role requires LPN or related certification with COHN preferred; prior occupational health experience is advantageous, along with strong confidentiality and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Current LPN license or EMT/Paramedic certification.
• COHN certification or willingness to obtain.
• Prior occupational health experience preferred.
• Confidential handling of employee health information.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, FMLA regulations.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care from minor incidents to first response.
• Support Safety Managers in coordinating health services.
• Maintain workers' compensation information and assist scheduling.
• Coordinate pre-employment physicals and drug testing.
• Develop and implement wellness programs and education.
• Maintain relationship with local occupational health clinic.
• Manage hearing conservation, heat stress, respiratory protection and training.

Job description

• Provide medical care ranging from minor incidents to acting as a first responder.
• Support and assist Safety Managers in coordinating and managing health services.
• Maintain workers compensation information for claims, and help schedule doctor visits and transportation.
• Coordinate and perform pre-employment physicals and drug testing (post-offer, accident, and random).
• Develop and implement employee health and wellness programs such as health assessments, immunization programs, medical care, wellness education, counseling, etc.
• Maintain active and positive ongoing relationship with local occupational health clinic.
• Manage hearing conservation, heat stress, respiratory protection and ergonomics programs including development and delivery of employee training.
• All other relevant duties to the job.

Description

Requirements

• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required OR Certified EMT, Paramedic, etc.
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) certification or willingness to obtain.
• Prior occupational health experience within a similar environment preferred.
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to ensure confidentiality of employee health information.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, FMLA regulations.
• Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent utilization of office equipment and/or computers.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Exposure to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production lines.
• Possible exposure to heat (99°F, 37°C) and cold (45°F, 4°C).
• Possible exposure to wet and cold environment.
• Work around live and/or raw animal odors.
