Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures in Lancaster, SC seeks a Plant Welding Technician to support the pole manufacturing plant with welding and technical support, troubleshooting, and process improvements. You will ensure procedure conformance and perform training for FCAW, SAW, SMAW processes on the shop floor and in classrooms.

Responsibilities include welding training, evaluating procedures, maintaining records, and supporting internal improvement projects within a multi-shift plant environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years FCAW, SAW, SMAW welding experience.
• Able to read and comprehend welding symbols, welding procedure specifications, drawings, BOMs.
• Welding related associate degree preferred.
• AWS D1.1 knowledge and filler/base materials knowledge.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Regular and predictable attendance and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide welding support to production welders and supervisors.
• Troubleshoot welding technique and equipment issues.
• Maintain welder continuity, equipment calibration, and flux oven logs.
• Evaluate and implement welding process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
• Perform welding training on shop floor and in classroom settings.
• Assist in qualifying welding procedure specifications as required.
• Oversee daily pole school operations and welder candidate training.
• Maintain training, testing, and qualification records.
