Job summary

Commercial Metals LTD seeks a site-area leader to oversee operations with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and policy enforcement. You will direct all activities of the Area including accounting, shipping, receiving, operations and environment, collaborating across departments to achieve company goals.

This role requires budgeting, asset planning, labor forecasting and capital expenditures, and a focus on developing a safety culture, maintaining inventory discipline and guiding staff

Qualifications

  • Must maintain safety and environmental compliance.
  • Experience in operations, marketing, or sales in a metal recycling facility is a strong plus.
  • Ability to manage budgets and labor costs with fiscal responsibility.
  • Understand CMC accounting policies, working capital and profitability metrics.
  • Extensive knowledge of operations across plant and regional levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead with a professional approach toward safety, quality and company standards.
  • Direct all area activities including accounting, shipping, receiving and operations.
  • Champion adherence to guiding principles, code of conduct and policies.
  • Set financial and non-financial goals with clear work plans and accountability.
  • Plan budgets, assets, labor forecasts and capital expenditures for short- and long-range production.
  • Collaborate with departments to achieve company goals.
  • Develop and lead a Safety Culture aligned with CMC standards.
  • Control inventory dollars and tonnage to meet turnover targets.
  • Provide guidance to staff, hiring, development and performance reviews.
  • Ensure employment law compliance and reduce risk of disputes.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for the planning of budgets, company assets, labor forecasts and capital expenditures for short-term and long-range production
  • Collaborate with different departments to ensure successful accomplishments of company goals
  • Develop and lead a Safety Culture that is consistent with CMC standards
  • Control inventory dollars and tons by meeting inventory turn standards set forth by the company
  • Provides guidance and direction to staff including hiring, disciplinary action, staff development, goal formulation and performance review
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations, minimizing the company's exposure to adverse outcomes of complaints, litigation, audits and inspections
What You'll Need
  • Must be able to maintain and be familiar with safety and environmental concerns
  • Past successful experience in operations, marketing, sales in a metal recycling facility or other related industry a strong plus
  • Must be able to control budgeted labor and overtime costs; as well as, maintain fiscal responsibility for all departments' budgets
  • Understands and executes CMC accounting policies, RONA, Working Capital, Operating Profit, and Business strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of all areas of operations
  • Preferred familiarity with material handling equipment and how to properly maintain (maintenance programs) and repair equipment
  • Must collaborate and develop strong relationships with people to ensure successful accomplishments of plant and regional goals
  • Ability to make sure all employees are trained and well prepared to carry out their daily tasks to ensure everyone's safety
  • Able to clearly communicate expectations, issues and feedback
  • Must be able to problem solve in all areas of plant
  • Proficiency with computer operating systems, to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate up, down, and across the business
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
