Job description

We’re hiring a Plant Manager to lead with people, presence, and purpose.

PABCO Roofing Products is a family-owned business with deep roots and a strong reputation. We’re known for treating people well and manufacturing a best-in-class asphalt shingle. Our plant in Tacoma is growing, and we’re looking for a hands-on, high-character and committed leader to guide our next chapter. This role isn’t about sitting in an office—it’s about building trust, developing people, and being present on the floor to drive results.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Leadership & Culture

  • Lead and mentor supervisors, leads, and frontline employees across all shifts
  • Build a culture of respect, accountability, and communication
  • Engage with your team daily—on the floor, in meetings, and 1:1
  • Be approachable, consistent, and clear about expectations
  • Model leadership that others want to follow

Operations & Production

  • Own plant performance: safety, efficiency, uptime, quality, and costs
  • Set daily, weekly, and monthly production goals—and hold the team accountable
  • Develop systems to reduce downtime, improve process flow, and ensure quality
  • Lead and support projects tied to capital improvements and new product integration
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality, logistics, and engineering teams to keep things moving
  • Contribute to plant and corporate-level strategic planning
  • Help shape and implement long-term improvement initiatives
  • Partner with executive leadership on staffing, equipment needs, and vendor relationships
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and monthly financial reviews
  • Support environmental, health, and safety compliance across all areas

What We’re Looking For

This role requires more than just technical ability—we’re looking for someone with presence, emotional intelligence, and the drive to lead people well.

Required:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen, coach, and give clear direction
  • High integrity and emotional maturity—someone others naturally respect
  • Able to work ~45–50 hours/week + occasional weekends
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable using production data, reporting tools, and operating metrics to guide decisions

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business, or related field
  • Experience in asphalt, roofing, paper, or building materials industries
  • Background in Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma environments

Why Join PABCO?

We’re a team of real people who care about our work, our coworkers, and our community. This is a demanding role—but it’s one that offers serious impact, influence, and long-term career growth. You’ll be supported by a collaborative leadership team and a solid employee base who want to do things the right way.

  • Salary range: $150,000–$180,000/year, depending on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with profit sharing
  • Short- and long-term disability, life insurance
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and 10 paid holidays
  • Bonus opportunities based on performance
  • A culture that values people, not just production
