GENERAL SUMMARY:
This is a salaried position in Manteno, IL that reports to the VP of Operation, HACO Culinary in the City of Industry, CA. The Plant Manager is responsible for the manufacturing, maintenance, facilities functions & regulatory compliance of the plant which includes developing & leading the people & processes in the areas of warehouse, production, facility maintenance & execution of capital projects. Key partners in this role will be the VP QA/R&D to ensure food safety & product quality, the HR Manager to ensure the safety & welfare of the team, Sales team to meet customer needs, & the Controller to develop & achieve the financial targets. This position is an intricate contributor to the delivery of plan, mission, goals, & values, ensuring prosperity of the company & its people.
SCOPE OF JOB FUNCTION
- Manage production resources & make timely decisions to ensure production is running at maximum efficiency.
- Develop & manage the manufacturing budgets for labor, material, overhead, including capital expenditures associated with the short/long-term strategies of the Company.
- Formulate manufacturing policies to ensure consistency of manufacturing procedures.
- Direct all manufacturing support efforts including quality control, supply chain, plant layout, & equipment selection & manufacturing support. Must be a leader in all aspects of high technology manufacturing, particularly, expertise in manufacturing process development.
- Develop & institute plans to increase productivity while maintaining standards of quality & safety.
- Review daily production demands.
- Report to management (written &/or oral) the status of any high priority jobs & production issues.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality of the product(s) without overrun of the cost.
- Collect & analyze data to find places of waste or overtime.
- Increase productivity & decrease costs.
- Conduct investigations into product loss during production, missing inventory, & low production volumes.
- Implement new manufacturing technologies to enhance quality & drive down costs & set strategic direction for future product & process improvements within manufacturing.
- Review scheduling of all production employees with Production manager/operation supervisors.
- Recruit & performance-manage manufacturing personnel in leadership & other critical roles.
- Ensure plant is successful in attainment of all necessary audits relating to the business.
- Responsible for all safety initiatives & following the Plochman’s safety program to ensure compliance within OSHA regulations & company policies.
- Suggest/implement new manufacturing technologies to enhance quality & drive down costs & set strategic direction for future product & process improvements within manufacturing.
- Develop team of peers.
- Notify Supervisor or Manager of any deviations to the procedures or specifications.
- Lead the continuous improvement efforts for productivity, product quality, customer service & safety, ensuring operations goals are met by overseeing the production, maintenance, & sanitation departments.
- Participate in internal self-auditing program.
- Develop yearly budgets with VP Operations.
- Work closely with the Executive Team & key members of the management team to set agendas for achieving tactical & strategic goals.
- Works with VP Of Quality for Food Safety & Quality.
- Works with Controller to develop financial budgets.
- Works with VP of Sales to ensure all customer requirements are met.
- Works with HR Manager on compliance, headcount budget, compensation, safety, environmental, training & development.
- Authorized to represent the organization in the community & promote the organization's goodwill & interests in community activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
B.A./B.S. from a 4-year College or University or equivalent work experience.
7-10 years’ minimum operations senior management experience (Operations Manager or higher) in the food manufacturing industry.
Adequate knowledge of business & management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation & human resources)
Be able to respond quickly to changing demands/priorities & demonstrate adaptability in stressful situations.
Experience managing in a fast-paced plant operation that produces a short shelf-life product segment, serving premier customers who hold high standards for service & quality.
Work independently to analyze processes, identify problems, & deliver solutions.
Effective verbal, listening, written & interpersonal communications skills.
Computer literate & proficient with MS Office suite of applications.
Able to work various shifts & holidays as required.
