Job summary

PPG is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee operations in Barberton, OH and Darien, WI. You will drive production efficiency, safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals while leading continuous improvement initiatives.

You will manage a unionized workforce, mentor staff, and report to the Director of Industrial Coatings Operations. This on-site role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities to impact performance across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience managing plant operations and large teams.
• Experience in a unionized workforce and handling collective bargaining, grievances, and industrial relations.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and logistics.
• Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA PSM and environmental regulations.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all teams.
• Oversee quality control systems to meet ISO 9000 requirements.
• Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement programs.
• Improve and ensure production schedules meet customer delivery requirements.
• Monitor throughput, scrap rates, and downtime; implement cost-saving measures.
• Lead, coach, and guide development of plant staff to achieve performance goals.
• Foster a collaborative and performance culture.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through on-time delivery and quality performance.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma programs.
• Identify opportunities for productivity and OEE improvements.
