Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a dependable Maintenance Technician for our Monticello, IA plant. The role focuses on maintaining various machines, equipment, and forklifts with a team-first mindset and proactive ownership of tasks.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude, safety awareness, and the ability to work 6:00am–2:00pm with flexibility for overtime. Job duties include repairs, preventive maintenance, and minor facility work in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED; secondary education in maintenance related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of mechanically powered drive systems.
• Project planning ability.
• Some welding knowledge and ability helpful.
• Ability to work on your feet for 80% of the day.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds or more.
• Ability to work independently but contribute to team accomplishments.
• Strong attention to details.
• Reliable transportation, attendance, and punctuality.
• Ability to work 6:00am – 2:00pm with flexibility to work later in the afternoon.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow safety rules for working in a manufacturing environment.
• Assist with repairing and installing electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems.
• Use welding equipment for layout and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures.
• Diagnose and correct trouble in electrical systems, applying standard load calculations.
• Perform visual and mechanical inspections to ensure machinery is in good condition and meet order specs.
• Follow preventive maintenance program and conduct inspections.
• Maintain buildings and perform minor repairs.
• Notify management about major repairs or lighting/heating/ventilation needs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in the work area.
• May be assigned additional projects by Team Leader.
