Cornerstone Building Brands is hiring a Maintenance Technician for our Monticello, IA plant. Base pay ranges from $26.00 to $31.00 per hour on 1st shift (6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, with possible later hours).

The role focuses on maintaining machines, equipment, and forklifts, while following safety rules and preventive maintenance programs to ensure production quality. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently and in a team, and a reliable work ethic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; related maintenance training preferred.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and mechanically powered drives.
• Some welding knowledge is helpful.
• Ability to work on your feet most of the day and lift 30 pounds or more.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules for manufacturing environments.
• Repair and install electrical equipment including generators and switchboards.
• Weld using arc, acetylene, brazing, and flame cutting; create jigs and fixtures.
• Diagnose electrical problems and calculate load requirements.
• Perform visual and mechanical inspections to ensure quality and readiness for production.
• Follow preventive maintenance and report major repairs needed.
• Maintain buildings and perform minor repairs; assist with lighting, HVAC improvements.
• Support continuous improvement and take on additional projects as needed.

1st Shift Hours: 6:00AM - 2:00PM, hours may vary depending on operations

We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and team-oriented Maintenance Technician to work in our plant. This position is responsible for maintaining a variety of different machines, equipment & forklifts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, mechanical aptitude, and a team first mindset, take initiative and own their work, while communicating with respect.

KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understands and follows all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
• Assists with repairing and installing various electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems. Works with blueprints drawings, layouts, verbal instructions and other specifications.
• Uses various welding equipment (arc, acetylene, brazing, flame cutting) for lay out and fitting, including making jigs and fixtures.
• Diagnoses and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment, applying standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Performs visual and mechanical inspections to confirm machinery is in good condition, ensuring the production of finished quality products according to order specifications.
• Follows the preventive maintenance program as established by the company and conducts equipment inspections, taking preventive action when necessary.
• Maintains buildings, performing minor repairs.
• Notifies management regarding the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts in work area.
• May be assigned additional projects or duties as designated by Team Leader.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED; secondary education in maintenance related field is preferred.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of mechanically powered drive systems.
• Project planning ability.
• Some welding knowledge and ability helpful.
• Ability to work on your feet for 80% of the day.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds or more.
• Ability to work independently but contribute to team accomplishments.
• Strong attention to details.
• Reliable transportation, attendance, and punctuality.
• Ability to work 6:00am - 2:00pm with flexibility to work later in the afternoon.
