Job Summary

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Note: Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties at any time.

1. Complete preventive maintenance programs independently as assigned.
2. Assist other maintenance personnel on fabrication or construction projects; perform corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
3. Conduct daily greasing, oiling of plant equipment, and painting.
4. Replace equipment parts with minimal guidance; rebuild gearboxes, perform piping work, replace packing, rebuild pumps.
5. Operate cutting torches, weld mild steel with stick welders, and perform fabrication and hydraulic repairs.
6. Rewire motors and perform basic electrical tasks.
7. Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work area.
8. Use assigned personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety rules and regulations; attend safety meetings and participate in safety committees if asked.
9. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience operating a forklift.

Qualifications

• Vocational school training preferred.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and equipment operation.
• Mechanical aptitude with basic electrical skills (480V).
• Good math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Physical Demands

• Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Regularly walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Reach with hands and arms as needed.
• Travel to other plants for projects may be required.
• Work nights and weekends as needed.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a rendering facility with potential exposure to wet, slippery floors, and high or cold temperatures.
