Job summary

Great Lakes Cheese, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance department, directing installation, maintenance and repair of plant equipment, buildings and grounds to maximize production and efficiency.

You will organize and supervise maintenance staff, prioritize needs, coordinate with other departments, and drive continuous improvement while ensuring a safe work environment under OSHA/EPA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or commensurate experience.
• 4 years of maintenance management experience or more.
• Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
• Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Broad depth of experience and knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
• Ability to make sound, independent decisions based on functional expertise and experience.
• Ability to administer a proactive management approach.
• Ability to provide leadership, support, communication and direction to production supervisors, as well as line personnel.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Organize, lead and supervise maintenance employees; solve problems before they develop.
• Prioritize maintenance needs and assign to appropriate personnel.
• Anticipate maintenance or engineering needs/events/issues/situations and rectify them before problems develop.
• Functions as a team member with other plant and company departments.
• Lead and motivate by example.
• Administer an open door policy with employees to address issues, problems and concerns.
• Utilize employee feedback to assist in the decision-making process.
• Observe, evaluate & challenge maintenance programs and systems for continuous improvement.
