Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Utility Person to join our team at Midway Quarry in Mascot, TN. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, dependable, and motivated, performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation.

The role involves greasing and lubricating equipment, maintaining housekeeping, operating various machines, and assisting in production, loading, shipping, and quality control with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Experience in the building materials industry (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Performing preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment.
• Performing daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance
• Using a hand shovel and operates a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking area
• Operating a water truck to limit airborne dust
• Participating in plant operations including production, loading and shipping, and quality control
• Maintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Operating plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Operating an automated scale and related computer software program to generate customer tickets
• Directing customers to the appropriate areas of the site
• Maintaining accurate records of aggregate tonnage and sales activities on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and prepares basic reports
• Communicating with other site personnel to ensure proper recording of sales activities and fulfillment of customer needs
• Answering customer calls and communicates pricing, product descriptions, and product availability
• Maintaining professionalism in all situations in the workplace and when working with customers
• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor
