Job summary

City of Springfield is hiring a Plant Maintenance Engineer to oversee the maintenance program at the Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant, including pumps, motors, and instrumentation, and to coordinate emergency response as needed.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, at least three years in plant maintenance, and a valid driver's license; a PE license or Class A wastewater operator certification is preferred.

Experience, Education, and Training

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering;

AND

• Three years of experience in the maintenance of a wastewater or water treatment plant or similar industrial facility;
• Directly related work experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Licensing/Certification

• A Class "A" Wastewater Operator's Certificate and PE is preferred, but not required;
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.
