Job description

Position Overview

Our asphalt plant laborer/plant operator will perform a wide range of duties at an asphalt plant, including but not limited to shoveling, moving materials, and maintaining good housekeeping while adhering to all safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies, rules, and regulations of OSHA/MSHA and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
2. Determine the need for fuel, coolants, lubricants, ignition aids, and add as needed; inspect, lubricate, and service trucks, reporting vehicle conditions to the Supervisor.
3. Be prepared to learn operate dozers, excavators, plant loaders, pit loaders, pit haulers, and other mobile equipment related to quarry operations.
4. Sustain a high degree of care and attention to prevent injuries in congested areas.
5. Maintain correct stockpiling techniques to prevent material segregation.
6. Responsible for stockpiling the correct products on designated stockpiles.
7. Assist the plant operator when needed.
8. Remove dust from the dust silo.
9. Clean materials under conveyors and in plant areas.
10. Perform general laboring duties as necessary.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring the quality production of asphalt materials, assigning and loading trucks, ordering liquid asphalt, completing production reports, and performing daily maintenance on the asphalt plant. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in asphalt plant operations is helpful but not required.
