Job summary

DIS-TRAN Steel in Pineville, LA is seeking an IT Specialist to oversee daily computer systems performance at the plant. You will respond to user inquiries and resolve issues related to software and hardware, ensuring smooth operation for the production environment.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or equivalent with 1–2 years of related experience; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a CIS-related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field preferred.
• One to two years of related experience required.
• General technical knowledge of computer operating systems, including software and hardware, required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the daily performance of computer systems.
• Answers user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operations in order to resolve problems.
• Sets up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
• Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
• Maintains records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
• Reads technical manuals, confers with users, or conducts computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems in order to provide technical assistance and support.
• Refers major software or hardware problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
