Job summary

Silgan Containers in Seymour, CT seeks an HR Coordinator to manage day-to-day HR operations at the plant, coordinating HR policies, procedures and programs to foster a high-performance, employee-oriented culture.

Responsibilities include development of HR programs, payroll processing, training, recruitment, employee relations and labor relations, with emphasis on safety and compliance. This role supports management and union relations in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist development and administration of HR programs to align workforce with strategic goals.
• Participate in setting department goals, objectives and systems.
• Attend administrative staff meetings and other seminars.
• Assist with monitoring the annual HR budget.
• Maintain Workday (HCM) and prepare/analyze reports for HR/Company needs.
• Fully utilize HR software for company advantage.
• Process weekly payroll for Ligonier Plant and coordinate with accounting/payroll to maintain payroll database.
• Assist with implementation of performance management systems including PDPs and training programs.
• Help establish in-house employee training system covering onboarding, management development, cross-training, safety and transfer of training impact.
• Assist managers with selecting external training programs and consultants.
• Provide education/materials to managers/employees (workshops, handbooks, reports).
• Maintain employee training records.
• Manage recruitment for hourly and salaried employees, conduct planning meetings, screen resumes, interview nonexempt candidates, and participate in selection meetings and safety committee.
• Assist with HR policies for employee relations and safety; communicate policies; recommend relations practices; participate in investigations; advise on progressive discipline.
• Understand and implement the collective bargaining agreement at Ligonier; analyze its impact to promote productive labor/management relations; build rapport with the union.
