Job summary

Schuman Cheese is seeking an HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR needs across a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Elgin, IL. You will partner with production, quality, maintenance, and admin teams to promote a safe, compliant, and productive workplace.

The role covers recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, training, and HR systems. Strong Excel and HRIS skills are preferred, with English/Spanish bilingualism desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred; equivalent education and experience considered.
• 1–3 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or operations.
• Working knowledge of employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and employment compliance.
• Experience with HR information systems, applicant-tracking systems, timekeeping systems, and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as HR resource for employees, supervisors, and managers across shifts.
• Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried positions.
• Coordinate with staffing agencies for temporary workforce.
• Assist onboarding, training, and policy acknowledgments to ensure compliance and timely completion.
• Support payroll questions and HR programs; coordinate with internal and external partners.
• Assist with performance management, training, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements and record retention.
