Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a Research Technician in the Genetics department to support plant biotechnology and tissue culture activities. The role involves maintaining plant cultures, assisting with cloning and genotyping, and supporting daily lab operations.

The successful candidate will work independently on assigned projects within a collaborative research environment, with typical hours of 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, and a salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a research laboratory preferred.
• Familiarity with plant tissue culture and basic molecular biology.

Responsibilities

• Plant Tissue Culture: Establish, maintain, and monitor plant tissue cultures for crop and model plant species.
• Molecular Cloning and Vector Construction: Design and clone gRNAs, construct vectors, perform DNA prep and bacterial transformation.
• Genotyping and Phenotyping: Conduct genotyping/phenotyping analyses and data recording.
• Laboratory Operations and Support: Maintain a clean, organized lab, manage supplies, train undergraduate workers.
