Job summary

Smurfit Westrock, Houston Sheet Plant's leader in sustainable packaging, seeks a General Manager to drive performance and profitability of the facility onsite under the Texas Area VP.

The role focuses on safety, quality, cost control, productivity, and strategic execution, building a high‑performing team and ensuring customer satisfaction while coordinating across Sales, Logistics, Production, Safety and Quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering strongly preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive manufacturing management experience in the packaging industry.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop diverse teams.
• Track record of goal setting and achieving results.
• Strong capital management and financial data analysis skills.
• Excellent strategic planning and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and adaptability to changing demands.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement business plans aligning with the Houston Sheet Plant's strategic vision.
• Nurture a customer-focused culture and deliver more than expected.
• Build a high-performing team that collaborates to drive change initiatives.
• Ensure all safety, environmental, and quality requirements are met.
• Improve P&L through capital expenditure, manufacturing cost reductions, and operating efficiencies.
• Drive continuous improvement aligned with strategic direction.
• Collaborate with Area and Corporate Sales Managers to identify growth opportunities and maintain key accounts.
