Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a General Manager responsible for the performance and profitability of a paper and packaging plant. You will lead safety, quality, cost and productivity in a manufacturing setting, maintaining profitability while meeting strategic goals.

You will build and lead a diverse team, manage budgets and capital expenditures, and drive cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Logistics, Production, and Quality to optimize operations across the plant and its customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering strongly preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive management experience in manufacturing/operations.
• Experience managing P&L, capital expenditures, and operating costs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant profitability and ensure safety and quality requirements are met.
• Manage P&L, capital expenditures, costs and operating efficiencies to improve profitability.
• Develop and implement business plans aligned with company goals and strategy.
• Build a high performing team and drive change initiatives across the organization.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives tied to the strategic direction.
• Collaborate with Sales, Logistics, Production, Safety and Quality to serve multi-location customers.
• Oversee production to meet short-term and long-term objectives for efficiency.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective manufacturing objectives.
• Monitor customer requirements and identify opportunities to improve satisfaction.
