Qualifications

• Production or manufacturing leadership experience in a plant environment.

• Degree preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead 2nd-shift plant operations, overseeing production activities and priorities.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and safety briefings; assign tasks and communicate priorities.
• Monitor production metrics (throughput, downtime, efficiency) and identify improvements.
• Coordinate with Maintenance on repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Back up Plant Operator and assist with production duties when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping across the facility.
• Manage attendance, timekeeping, PTO, and shift coverage; support staffing needs.
• Support cost-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Our client is seeking a hands-on Plant Foreman to lead daily operations on 2nd shift at a Kansas City, KS manufacturing/processing facility. This role is responsible for keeping the plant safe, productive, clean, and running efficiently, while coordinating production, maintenance, staffing, and shift priorities. The ideal candidate is a working leader who can step in and help solve problems, keep employees accountable, coordinate maintenance needs, and identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead 2nd-shift plant operations, overseeing production activities, employees, workflow, and daily priorities.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and safety briefings, assign tasks, and communicate production priorities across the team.
• Monitor production performance, throughput, downtime, and efficiency metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate with Maintenance on repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment issues, and scheduled projects.
• Perform or assist with plant and PIT inspections, inventory counts, and operational checks.
• Serve as a backup Plant Operator and step into production responsibilities when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
• Review prior-shift issues, communicate with the outgoing shift, and ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
• Manage employee attendance, timekeeping, PTO schedules, and shift coverage, including stepping in when staffing gaps occur.
• Support cost-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives designed to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Coordinate production and material-handling schedules with internal teams and support cross-functional communication with Operations, Maintenance, Transportation, and management.
• Perform other duties as needed to support safe and efficient plant operations.

What We're Looking For

• Production or manufacturing leadership experience in a plant, processing, industrial, or similar environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead hourly teams and manage day-to-day plant operations.
• Strong understanding of equipment, maintenance coordination, troubleshooting, and production processes.
• Experience monitoring KPIs, production metrics, efficiency, throughput, or downtime.
• Familiarity with safety procedures, inspections, inventory, and timekeeping practices.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability and willingness to jump in and help when operational issues arise.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Operations, Transportation, and senior leadership.
• Degree preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
• Willingness to work 2nd shift, every other weekend, and a rotating on-call schedule.

Compensation & Schedule

• $75,000-$85,000 annual salary, including shift premium
• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating on-call schedule
