Job summary

POET is seeking a Plant Engineering Intern to work closely with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to optimize plant operations and run time at our Preston, MN site. The role offers hands-on maintenance program development and data analysis opportunities during Summer 2027.

Candidates are high school graduates enrolled as full-time juniors or seniors in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering programs, able to work 40 hours weekly across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Junior or Senior-level student enrolled full-time at an accredited 4-year college/university pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts, minimum of 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

• Maximize efficiencies of plant operations and run time.
• Develop predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
• Assist in operation and troubleshooting with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager.
