Job summary

POET invites applications for the Plant Engineering Intern role to support plant operations and maintenance programs in Mitchell, SD. You will collaborate with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to optimize run times and troubleshoot processes, while contributing to predictive and preventive maintenance initiatives.

You'll gain exposure to plant operations, data analysis, and compliance activities, with a focus on safety, quality, and teamwork during the Summer 2027 internship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Junior or Senior-level student pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering.
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts, minimum of 40 hours/week.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt to change.
• Bonus points: familiarity or experience with DCS control and DCS historian systems

Responsibilities

• Assist Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to maximize plant efficiencies and run time.
• Troubleshoot processes and help develop predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
• Support maintenance and outside vendors in developing the preventive maintenance program.
• Work with management to develop and advance plant operating procedures and environmental compliance.
