Job summary

Granite Construction Incorporated is offering a summer internship where you will support a project team with management, field construction activities, and documentation. This internship provides hands-on experience in the heavy-civil industry, potential for course credit, and income while you learn.

You will learn from foremen and engineers, handle timecards, quantities in FIS, and daily cost reports, while developing communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Construction or Engineering undergraduate program at a four-year university.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently.

Responsibilities

• Assist a project team with field construction activities and project documentation.
• Communicate with foremen and superintendent to learn operations and provide support.
• Assist with timecards approvals in HeavyJob and track equipment and labor time.
• Verify quantities in FIS and log for cost and revenue tracking.
• Generate and distribute daily cost reports to project management.
• Document daily reports for subcontractor activities and site progress.
• Place material orders and survey requests as needed.
• Assist with calculating material yields (concrete, base, asphalt).
• Support project manager/engineer to verify quantities and progress.
